Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Red Blotch And Swelling Above The Ankle?
I have red blotching right above my ankle about 4 inches up my leg. If I cross my legs or push on the area it leaves an indent that takes anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes to go away. That area is also swollen. It does not itch or hurt or bother me in anyway unless it is touched then it hurts.
Red, swollen legs may be a sign of a circulation problem. Most likely what you are experiencing is called edema. I suggest to consult your physician for a physical examination. Meanwhile,I suggest to maintain the legs elevated to lower the inflammation. I also suggest to use anti-inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the inflammation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
