What Causes Red Bumps All Over The Body Caused By Folliculitis?

I have had itchy skin for a few years with some red bumps all over my body. Originally the doctors thought it was scabies but then they said it was folliculitis. I ve been living with this for a few years and I ve tried everything from switching soaps to changing detergent and I am a pretty clean person. Once again, the red bumps are all over my body. This includes inside the anus, genitals, back, chest, and my legs mostly. Even sometimes on the back of my head. What should I do?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of red bumps all over the body caused by folliculitis which is a common skin condition in which hair follicles become inflamed which is usually caused by a bacterial or fungal infection. Major reason for its occurrence is friction and other reasons are heat , sweat and dermatitis. need not to worry. I would suggest you to keep that area dry , wear loose cloths. You should apply a warm, moist washcloth or compress and apply soothing lotions. You should gently wash the infected skin twice a day with antibacterial soap. Take diet rich in fluids. Consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe anti bacterial or anti fungal medicine along with procedure like laser hair removal and light therapy .
