What Causes Red Bumps On Skin After Applying Blistex On Lips?

Hi I used blistex and put it on my lips . I must have gotten some on my hand because I went and checked things on my body after I showered and found on my forearms and sholders and back and rib cage and inner thigh pinkish red lumps. Can you tell me what this is ?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. It seems like you have developed an allergic reaction to Blistex.

You should start taking antihistamine such as Levocetrizine 5 mg (Levocet) or Loratidine 10 mg (Lorfast) once a day for 5 days. The pinkish red lumps should start disappearing after 1-2 days.

However, if the reaction increases or you do not find relief with the antihistamine, you should consult a dermatologist as you might need treatment with corticosteroids. You should avoid use and contact of Blistex in future.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HCM. I wish you recover soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
