What Causes Red Bumps Under The Skin Over The Legs?

I have hard red bumps, more on my lower left leg than my right... I have been to the Dr..and my Uric acid levels where high. So she said I have Gout...Which I believe I have...but I don't think the red bumps are a part of the gout...They are hard and under the skin. They don't have a head like a boil or a zit..the are very weird..They don't itch. The one by my ankle is the biggest. About 2 inches long and one inch wide..It feels like my Achilles tendon is going to break when I walk.
