What Causes Red Colored Eyes With Irritation And Discharge?

Hello, I think I have some sort of eye infection, at first I thought I had just worn my contacts too long or rubbed them it felt like sand was in them. Then I stopped wearing them for a bit, and one morning my eye was red and had a little bit of discharge. I went to the pharmacy in italy, and they gave me anitbiotics for conjunctivitus. Its the 2nd day I started wearing my contacts again and it feels like my eye is scratched (the opposite eye) and is red. WHen I took out my contacts a slimy stringing mucous was lining my contact lens... is it conjunctivitus or something else?

Hello
It seems from the history that you are having redness, discharge and irritation of the eyes.
These symptoms indicate conjunctivitis.
Since you also wear contact lenses contact lens related eye infections need to be ruled out.
The treatment is by use of antibiotic eye drops and antiinflammatory drugs.
The use of contact lens should be avoided till the symptoms show improvement.

Thank you
