What Causes Red Inflamed Ring Around The Lips Along With Puffiness?

I have had a ring of red around my lips for almost one month. They burn tremendously. One doctor prescribed an oral antibiotic. It was a 5 day run and it seemed to help it. She also prescribed a .5% over the counter hydrocortisone cream. After the treatment finished, the redness, puffiness and burning sensation came back. My lips are also cracked around the edges. I went to another doc and he said it was cheilitis. He prescribed Fucidin Cream 2% and a mix of an anti-fungal cream like Monostat. The burning sensation is now worse than before. Could the fucidin cream (I stopped the Monostat after one day as it was also burning) be causing it to get worse?

As per your complain the symptoms of red inflamed ring around the mouth along with burning sensation and cracking can be due to Perioral Dermatitis..
It can be caused due to disturbances in microbial flora over the skin, bacterial infection,nasal and topical steroids, flouridated toothpastes, harsh chemical cosmetics, poor facial hygiene, hormonal imbalances etc..
I would suggest you to consult a Dermatologist and get evaluated and he can do a thorough clinical evaluation and advise you to apply topically ointments containing Metronidazole..
You can also be advised oral intake of Erythromycin..
Ointments containing Azaelic acid,Pimecrolimus etc can help..
You can also be advised retinois like Adapelene..
Avoid any skin cosmetic or steroid ointments..
