hi- my teen son has rash on arm, extends from upper to lower, looks like tenia. It s itchy, red, and raised. also smaller circular/ disk shaped spots on shoulders. He swims. Hwever, He was sick last month with diagnosis of coxsackie virus - symptoms with severe sore throat with spots.
Understanding your concern. As per your query your son have symptoms of red itchy raised rashes on hands, arms, shoulders which seems to be due to improper cleanliness of body, due to hair follicle infection by bacteria, clogging of skin pores and due to fungal infection. It could be due to allergic reaction as well. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to maintain cleanliness of area and keep it dry. You should wear loose clothes and avoid sharing your clothes with anyone. Avoid touching or pricking it. Take oral antibiotic course as well. You should apply topical antibacterial ointment mupirocin on it. Visit dermatologist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper prescription. You should go for blood tests and skin allergy or patch test and start treatment accordingly.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
