my husband has a very large red rash on his lower legs. one leg has the rash in the front, the other leg has rash in the back and has a large blister type thing that has drained once and has filed up again. rash is itchy. told it was a skin infection but not know why. could you shed some light on this?

Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like dermatitis, dry skin, folliculitis, eczema, heat rash or sweat dermatitis. Need not to worry. Apply ice pack to reduce redness and itchiness .It is important to wear loose comfortable clothes ,maintain good personal hygiene. Use a powder to avoid sweat collection and apply calamine lotion at the sites of the lesion. If condition doesn't get well then consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like clindamycin , oral antifungal or antibacterial depending upon the diagnosis .
