What Causes Red Itchy Spots On Leg Despite Using Cortizone?

I had two red red itchy spots one one leg for about two months. I went to the doc. this week and he gave me an antibiotic which I have been taking but today two more really itchy spots appeared further up the same leg. Fe also told me to put Cortazon 10 on it, I did it seemed to help some but still latches but the new ones are driving me crazy. What is it and what can I do to stop the itching?

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of red itchy spots on leg despite using Cortisone which seems to be due to hair follicle infection leading to folliculitis and it could be due to furuncle or boil. Need not to worry. You should apply betnovate ointment on them 2-3 times a day. You should take course of oral antibiotics. Visit dermatologist once if symptoms keeps on persisting. Start treatment after complete examination and proper prescription. You should get skin patch test and allergy test done to find out exact cause of disease and start treatment accordingly. You should wear loose clothes and avoid sharing them with anyone. Maintain complete hygiene and keep area little dry. You should avoid touching or pricking bumps. I would suggest you to apply topical antibacterial ointment.
