What Causes Red Mucus Discharge Along With Bowel Movement?

Thank you. I ve noticed in my last two bowel movements a red (blood) substance mixed in with a seemingly heavy mucous string . I ve had harder stools than not most of my life as I ve clearly not drank enough water. Recently went through a 30 day cleanse and have tried to keep up with probiotic caps. I m a bit concerned at 70 yrs. Edward C

I really appreciate your concern, if you need to get rid of this symptoms then drink more water, have fiber containing diet, no need to be over conscious for this, everything would be okay hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
