What Causes Red Puffy Spots That Turns Into Black?

I have spots that started on my back and now they are on my right shoulder. They start out puffy and red and then they turn black. They seem to be getting worse so I went to a dermatologist but he just gave me cortisone cream and lightening cream. Do you know what is causing them and if there is a cure?

Firstly I would like to know whether you are taking any drugs for some other ailment and as per your history seems to me a case of fixed drug eruption which is a kind of drug rash especially to antidiarrhoeal medicines. You can shift to clobetasol propionate cream as it is more effective but it will only lighten the spots and not disappear them completely.
