What Causes Red Rashes All Over The Body While On SMZ-TMP DS?

I am taking sulfamertozazole TMP DS tablets have experienced a red rash all over my body with a flush feeling. I am allergic to Penecillin. Could this drug be causing this interaction. am taking Potassium Citrate in conjunction with YYYY@YYYY

Hello,

Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole is well known for causing a rash, and I would suspect this to be the cause in your case.

I would recommend that you stop using the medication immediately and let your doctor know so that you can be switched to another antibiotic depending on the infection you are bring treated for.

Also, if you begin to have nausea or vomiting, difficulty breathing, or swelling in your lips or mouth, you should go to the emergency room immediately.
