What Causes Red Rashes On Body And Headache In Spite Of Taking Tylenol?

18 yr old female university student. Four days ago, Monday, came down with very bad headache, eyeballs hurt, and had chills, body ached everywhere, slept night and most of the day. Gave Tylenol extra strength two times a day for headache pain for two and a half days. Couldn t seem to get warm with blankets etc..chills. Used warm bean bags. No appetite then. Started to eat day three. Headache is not as bad today, however...now shows a reddened mottled rash on body, chest, back, side of neck to ear..visible nodules behind ear with reddened skin. Says not itchy. Has severe thirst..drinking water and never seems to quench the thirst for past two days. No sore throat or runny nose, no cough. I thought it was a flu, but now with this rash? Is this a virus, or what ? Should we just wait it out, or see a doctor?

Hi,
I have read your query & understand your concern.
Skin rash following fever can be due to multiple causes.. which can be infectious ( bacterial, viral ) or non infectious ( allergy)
Such rash can not be diagnosed just from description. It needs physical examination by a physician followed by investigations ( if needful ).
So you should consult your family physician , if it's infectious it becomes mandatory to notify government hospital for social well bein
Till then let her take rest, plenty of water & fresh ,light nutritious food.
Considering possibility of allergy to tylenol.. she should stop it & take aspirin / NSAID drug like Ibuprofen for her head ache/ fever .
