Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Red Scar Tissue Around The Base Of Penis?
My husband came home from a weekly business trip,, after taking a shower i notice areas around the base of penis where hairy area was pink scarred looking tissue rubbed off, and a part crusty looking, he said it came from masturbating ,but i think it maybe from a very dry vagina or dry anus what do you think?
The base of the penis can have several reasons for having a crusty look. One common reason is smegma. This is a white color thin layer over the head of the penis. This dry layer may rarely be seen over these shaft of the penis as well.
Other reasons for a dry layer can be a fungal infection or jock itch. This occurs when one wears tight clothing over a long period of time. This can cause a fungus to grow there
Some vaginal secretions may also from crusts but it would not be possible to confirm this for sure without a check up or a swab of the sample.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards, Dr. Vignan Rachabattuni
