What Causes Red Spots All Over Body Along With Itchy Patches?
Daughter just back from China with newly adopted from orphanage sister that had what was thought to be super infected nummular ezcema. Cleared up with abx and steroid cream plus triple abx cream, cetaphil and aquaphor. They shared a bath on Thursday, on Saturday older daughter had red spots random across body and now tiny black specks across body too. Newly adopted daughter has had reoccurance outbreak of spots and patches that are itchy. Treating with steroid cream prescribed by Dr and waiting to get into see dermatologist asap. Could it be scabies even though doesn t look typical?.

Scabies is a possibility specially since it can spread to involve close contacts and presents as itchy, spots/ bumps similar to mosquito bites.
Scabies can affect various body sites like abdomen, arms, legs, hands etc.
Scabies is incredibly itchy, particularly at night.
I suggest empirical treatment with scabicidal lotion e.g either 1% lindane Or 5% permethrin cream/ lotion.
Scabicidal lotion should be applied over the whole body, from neck downwards, left overnight and allowed to act for at least 8 hours before washing it off.
A single application is usually curative.
An OTC oral antihistamine e.g cetrizine syp will provide symptomatic relief from itching.
All the clothes, bed sheets, pillow covers etc should be thoroughly washed and dried before re-using.
