What Causes Red Spots At Back Of Tonsil Along With Itchy Throat?

Hi. I ve been battling a cold / sinus infection for the last few days, and now my throat and ears are itchy... Not scratchy, but itchy. Also, the dangly thing at the back of my throat has some red spots, and the backs of my tonsil s as well, I believe. What s going on? Strep Throat?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it does not look like Strep throat but it looks like a Viral [mono] Throat infection causing cold and sinus drainage,and itching in throat and ears, as well as redness in uvula and tonsils is due to Tonsillitis and uvulitis and all is due to viral infection..
There can be secondary bacterial infection along with viral infection..
You should consult an Otoaryngologist and get evaluated and a clinical evaluation and investigations like Rapid strep test and rapid mono test can be diagnostic..
He can advise you to take antibiotics like Levofloxacin or Cephalexin to treat or prevent bacterial infection, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen,chew Vitamin C pellets , take decongestants like Phenylephrine to reduce congestion, do warm saline gargles, do steam inhalations, and use a humidifier in your room..
Take a soft diet, sip on luke warm water throughout the day and take sufficient rest.
