Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
9 months ago I started getting red spots on my lower armes. they itched like crazy, till I could not take it anymore. Ive had poison oak & ivy my whole life, knew it was not that. but went to emergency first visit they said scabies. was treated for that. next visit, no better. oh I als forgot to say around my face were ichie bumps. which is why they thought it was scabbies. I always where a baceball cap. whent to a dermatologist. no samples taken. he gave me antibiocts ans steriod cream. i even went for a treatment of a light lamp, for 1 min. this made it worse. Im going crazy with the ich. now it has moved to my left cheek, 3 bumps. they have no pus or fluid in them.
The symptoms seem to be related to scabies. The 2 most widely used treatments for scabies are permethrin cream and malathion lotion (brand name Derbac M).
Both medications contain insecticides that kill the scabies mite. Permethrin 5% cream is usually recommended as the first treatment. Malathion 0.5% lotion is used if permethrin is ineffective.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
