What Causes Red Spots On The Arms While On Augmentin?
I have been taking Amox-classes 875-125 MG 2 times per day. I have taken 17 out of 20 pills. My parents said I was allergic to penicillin as a baby but don t remember what happened. I turned 43 yesterday and my doctor and I decided to see what might happen if I tried Augmentin. Today, I noticed red spots on my arms and they have not gone away plus I feel worse. Would you know if my body is reacting to the medication?
As per your complain in case if you are already known allergic to Penicillin then red spots on skin is an allergic reaction to Amox-clav combination as Amoxicillin is also an antibiotic belonging to Penicillin group of antibiotics..
So my suggestion is to stop taking the same and consult your Physician who can change the antibiotic and also advise you anti allergics like Allegra or Benadryl to relieve the allergy symptoms faster..
Also you can apply Calamine lotion or Caladryl lotion over the red spots to soothe the skin and relieve the red spots.. Doing cool compresses can also help..
It will be suggestive to avoid taking Penicillin group of antibiotics in future and take other groups like Cephalosporines, Macrolides etc..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
