What Causes Red Urination After Taking Colchicine?

Took the 3 Colchicine pills, 1/day this week for gout. Also, drank a 32 oz container of Just Black Cherry juice yesterday at work and late today urine is red upon initial discharge. So drinking water tonight and the three times I’ve urinated a small particle comes out also, last time looked like a half inch long wheat shaft.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Based on that red urination could be due to consumption of black cherry juice or it can also be due to hematuria (blood in the urine).

Since, you are suffering from gout; it could be due to stones in the kidney, ureter or bladder.

So, I advise you to consult a doctor for further evaluation and certain lab tests such urine examination, ultrasound or CT scan to find out the cause of red colored urine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
