Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Red Welts And Blisters Oozing Yellow Pus On The Legs?
I put After Bite (a commercial name for an ammonia based product) on a few mosquito bites on my lower legs that were itchy 5 days ago. Now I have large red welts covered small blisters that are oozing yellow liquid where I had the bites plus I have small blisters on my upper legs, feet, arms, back and front. I felt very tired and achy for 2 days but now other than the itchiness and tingling sensation over my body, I feel ok. Should I go to a doctor?
* The red blister with yellow oozing pus indicate abscess formation following cellulitis changes from a bacterial infection most likely.
* Though ointment application can provide your wound some relief, you need a prescription of antibiotics (as cephalosporin or penicillin) with anti-inflammatory medications containing trypsin and chymotrypsin for better resolution of the current episode.
Sterile home dressing with ice application is the best way till the time being you consult your doc.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
