My daughter has developed a redish purple rash on both thighs...this rash itches and them appears bruised. SHe is low in calcium and foloc acid....she has lost weight without trying to Im worried? Doctors say they have not seen a rash like this before
Rash on the thigh may be due to the following conditions: 1) Atopic dermatitis 2) Chafing 3) Allergic contact dermatitis 4) Heat rash 5) Pityriasis rosea 6) Swimmers itch or cercarial dermatitis
Treatment depends on the cause of the rash. Please discuss about above mentioned conditions with your dermatologist. Until you consult a dermatologist, the following treatment can be useful: 1) Calamine lotion on the rash 2) Antihistamines to reduce itching can be taken like tab. Benadryl or tab. Cetirizine twice daily. 3) Avoiding contact with any allergens. 4) Topical Hydrocortisone 1% cream to be applied on rash.
