What Causes Reddish/purplish Blemish With Bleeding On Lower Lip?

I have a reddish/purplish blemish on my lower lip in the fleshy part. It has been there for years and is normally flush with my lip but it has swollen and ruptured and bleeds ALOT. It has been this way for a week now. I have applied ice when it bleeds....sometimes its hard to stop the bleeding. Not sure what causes it to swell and rupture. Should I seek medical attention

Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.
As far as the swelling over the lip and bleeding is concerned, it can be secondary to hematoma or mucocele because of lip biting or any trauma to the lip. Nothing to be panic, consult a oral physician and get it evaluated. If it is a mucocele, then get it surgically excised. If there are any sharp teeth causing trauma to the lip, then get the teeth grinded.
I hope my answer will help you, take care.
