What Causes Reddish Spots All Over Face After Consuming Alcohol?

I drank alcohol for the first time tonight. I threw up seconds after finishing the first drink. I have little red spots all over my face. I also busted a blood vessel in my eye. I would like to know what the red dots are? I'm assuming they're broken blood vessels from the pressure exerted while throwing up.

Hi!
Welcome to HCM!

This is known as "alcohol flush reaction". This is seen in individuals who consume alcohol for the first time. Normally alcohol is metabolized in our body to acetaldehyde which eventually gets converted to water and carbon di oxide.
In some individuals the acetaldehyde is not metabolized into water and carbon dioxide due to genetic deficiency of enzyme aldehyde dehydrogenase which results in increased accumulation of acetaldehyde causing the red spots over the face, neck, back and chest areas.

It seems you also belong to those people who have deficient aldehyde dehydrogenase so whenever you consume alcohol or alcohol containing medications like cough syrups you are likely to get those red patches or spots on your face, neck and other parts of the body.

Best practice is refrain from alcohol. As it is scientifically proved that alcohol consumption is associated with a number toxicities starting from the brain to your gonads (testes) including liver, pancreas, stomach, etc.
I hope I have explained your queries.
Good luck!
