What Causes Redness And Pain In The Ear Drum?

the nurse called me from school and said that my daughters left ear drum is very red and the inside of her ear. My daughter complained it was hurting and shes having trouble concentrating because of pain. The dr will not be able to see her till next Wed due to him out on vacation. Is there anything I can do until she is seen next week to get her through the weekend?

I also suggest using ear drops for local application.
