What Causes Redness And Pain On The Back Of An Elderly Person?
My Grandfather (91yrs ild) has a painful back of the left hand with warm red colored skin. He said when it started it hurt worse with every heartbeat but now is just constant. 8 weeks ago he had a minor heart attack and had a stint put in the anterior side of his heart and then contracted sepsis due to a poor placed catheter that broke open scar tissue where his prostate was removed apx 20 yrs ago. He has been home 4 weeks now but this pain started yesterday and is pretty intense now. I applied a lidocane patch an hour ago to no effect. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

What Causes Redness And Pain On The Back Of An Elderly Person?
Hello, Most probably it will be a spine-related condition like a prolapsed disc. As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedician and plan for an MRI scan. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
