What Causes Redness And Pus Formation In The Eye Of An Infant?

Hi Doctor; My 3 weeks old baby has eye infection (Pus formations) and reddish eye. I have consultated doctor and Doctor Prescribed Drops- Tobramycin every 6hrs . But it has been a week now its still not improved.. Please suggest. Thank you. Maunit Paul

Hi,

Cleaning of closed upper eyelids with sterile wet cotton swabs is essential along with the use of eye drops (to be properly learnt from a nurse).

Baby may need an oral antibiotic. Please reconsult the ophthalmologist.
