What Causes Redness And Soreness On The Vagina?

Hi Doctor, I have a very red, inflamed and sore vagina, this is only sore on the left hand side and after having a look I can see what looks like a small cut, I believe this is from itching as the skin feels very thin and fragile. I also have the same looking cut between my vagina and anus which stings and hurts when passing urine. I have no discharge. Please could you help me as to how I should treat this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Vaginitis is an inflammation of the vagina that can result in discharge, itching and pain. I recommend doing a pelvic exam and a vaginal discharge culture to see the type of infection. Meanwhile, you can use an over the counter seven-day courses of vaginal suppositories.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
