What Causes Redness And Swelling In Eye After Swimming?

I noticed my son got red eyes after swimming (he did not wear goggle) , but he did not feel itch or sore. This morning my son s upper eyelids are a little bit swollen, but no more red for both eyes, just a little bit sore. Do i need to take him to see a doctor?

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
It seems from the history that your son is having redness and swelling of the etrs following swimming.
This can be because of irritation caused by chlorinated water or infection as a result of swimming pool acquired conjunctivitis.
The treatment is by use of antibiotics and decongestant drugs.
If the condition does not respond it requires examination by a ophthalmologist.

Thank you
