What Causes Redness And Swelling In The Back After A Fall?

My daughter fell down the steps and hit her back... Iced it for over an hour but 24 hours later the side of her back was bright red, swollen, hot, and hard to the touch... Should j be concerned? She s 3 years old and it s the side of her back not the spine

Hello,

I think the accumulated blood might have become infected. However, I advise to keep applying cold compresses for the next 24 hours to see changes. If still hot, need to consult with your primary physician as might require prescription meds.
