What Causes Redness And Swelling In The Lower Legs?

Both lower legs are swollen, red and very warm to the touch. Also, many small bumps have developed over last 24 hours. Saw a doctor yesterday who was able to rule our kidney issues and prescribed an oral diuretic, but have seen no noticeable improvement over last 36 hours. No urgent care facilities open this time of night. Can you speculate on what could be causing this edema and can we wait 8 hours to see doctor in AM?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Swelling in legs with redness may be due to infection.
A blood test to see for total and differential leucocyte count can be done, along with ESR and CRP.
It is also advisable to get your hemoglobin levels checked.
Do check for arterial pulsations in the distal part of legs
