What Causes Redness And Swelling Of Skin After Exposure To Cold Climate?
Hello I had been taking terbinafine 250 for a month for toe fungus. toes starting to look better BUT, now if I go outside in the COLD, or in the SUN shine, any part of my skin that is exposed turns red, swells and itches in TWO or THREE minutes of exposure. I will go back inside and it will take about an hour before my skin will stop itching and the swelling and redness will be all gone. I have stopped taken the lamisil about a week ago but, I m stil affected by the sun or cold air... Can anyone tell me what to do about this????
You are suggested to keep yourself warm. Wear garments that are waterproof and airproof. Avoid coming in direct contact with water, cold, metal. Protect yourself by wearing warm clothes, gloves, hats, etc. Stay hydrated and take warm nutritious food. Avoid taking alcohol as it will cause your body to lose heat faster.
Get treated underlying medical condition if any like autoimmune diseases, fibromyalgia, arthritis, diabetes, dehydration, hypothyroidism, malnutrition, etc. Taking NSAIDs, will help relieve pain and inflammation. Re-warm yourself. In case of skin allergy symptoms, taking antihistamine will help to relieve itching.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
