What Causes Redness And Swelling Of Toes?

I jammed my last 3 little toes in my shoe while changing direction about 2 weeks ago playing tennis. Since then the 2 littlest toes have been swollen and red along with the top of my foot at the base of my last 3-4 little toes. It is so painful I can barely put a sock on, let alone a shoe. Did I break anything in my foot/toes? Do I just need to tape them or go in to a doc for x-rays?
