General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The swelling after injury you have indicate inflammation along with infection or possible injury to ligaments, joint or bones in finger tip. An imaging investigation like X-ray / MRI can pin point the cause. A specific treatment of antibiotic, anti-inflammatory medication with needful orthopedic intervention would help you. Please consult your family physician/orthopedic surgeon for more specific advice.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
