Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Redness around genitals in 5 month old child is mainly due to allergic reaction caused due to nappy. It is commonly referred to as 'nappy rash' or 'diaper rash'.
Kindly apply moisturizing cream like Aveno baby and any other cream containing glycerine with zinc oxide before you put the diaper.
Also change and see the diaper brand as some diapers in particular could cause allergic skin reactions. Also change the diapers within stipulated time without leaving it for too long.
Hope the information provided would be useful.
All the best.
