What Causes Redness Around Mouth And Swollen Lips After Tooth Filling?

What would cause redness around my mouth, swollen lips and its painful. Is it possible that I'm having an allergic reaction to a tooth filling? I've tried creams antibiotics and prednisone. A week after stopping the prednisone I'm right back where I started

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain redness and swelling around the lips and pain after tooth filling seems to be due to allergic reaction to the filling material.
Although allergic reaction to a dental filling material is a very rare finding..
I would suggest you to consult your treating dentist and get evaluated and he can change the filling with other filling materials..
But in case if the symptoms still recur then you need to consult an Allergist and get evaluated and he can advise you allergic tests like Patch test, RAST test etc to rule out the exact cause of allergic reaction and treatment can be planned accordingly..
As of now you can take anti allergics like Levocetrizine..
Do cool compresses over the lips..
Apply calamine lotion to soothe the skin of lips..
