Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Redness Around The Affected Area Post Surgery On Upper Arm?
Hello, My husband had surgery a month ago to repair a fracture on his upper arm. Today he has developed an area of redness about 3 inches long by 1 inch wide over the area where the fracture was repaired. It is also very hard under the area of redness. Is this something to be concerned about? He doesn t have a fever and there is no drainage from his scar.
As you explain the situation when the arm is starting to move after a surgery it might be to have a redness or light swelling in the muscles. If he has no pain no fever than no worries, if yes better to contact his doctor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Jolanda Nikolla, Pulmonologist
