What Causes Redness At The Incision Site Of Abdominal Surgery?
Hi, I had abdominal surgery about one week ago. I removed all bandages today. The skin around the incision is red and warm and I can feel a large painful lump under the center of the incision., I saw my surgeon today who said the area looked cellulitic and put me on an oral antibiotic. I m still really concerned because I feel the cellulitic area had grown since this morning and is more painful. Is my surgeon doing enough? I m afraid I ll become septic if she s not aggressive enough.
It is due to local inflammation. As of now, you can apply topical antibiotics like mupirocin for symptomatic relief. If lesion persists better to consult a general surgeon and start on antibiotics.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
