What Causes Redness In Eye?

Hello Doctor,
My Wife was sleeping with Daughter. My daughter hit mother by her leg in sleep. That has caused clearly visible redness in the left eye inner side of white portion of eye. How serious this injury could be. She was watching TV in the morning after this injury. There is little water coming out of her eyes. Please advice.

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Well first thing is, is she having any problem with vision. If vision is good and you don't see any obvious tears except for redness she could be fine and this redness will resolve in 2-3 days time. Can give cold compresses which will sooth her eye. Also avoid sunlight exposure for a week.

If she has problem with vision she needs to be seen by ophthalmologist as she could have corneal injury or any internal damage. And also if you see any obvious tears.

Regards.
