What Causes Redness In The Face After Being Out In The Sun?

Hi my 15 year old was laying out in the sun for about 20 mins. She came inside red faced. Said she all of a sudden didn t feel good. She asked for a cold water then said she felt like she was going to pass out and she did. My husband laid her on the floor and I put a frozen bag of blueberries under her neck. Then a cold cloth on her forehead.. By that time she was already talking. I think she was dehydrated and over heated. Your thoughts?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think she may be having lipotymia or low blood pressure due to vasodilation excessive heating and dehydration. I don't think this is much important. Having fresh water and fluids may be a solution. Be careful in other cases not to be exposed directly in sunlight.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
