What Causes Redness On Outside Of White Part Of Eye?

My husband has severe redness on the outside whites of one half of his eye. It has been there for at least 3 days. It is very irritating to him (itchy, watery, slightly painful but not goopy like pink eye). At what point should we be concerned and have him see a doctor? Also, would you suggest he go see a GP or an eye specialist?

Hello
It seems from the history that your husband is having redness associated with itching and slight pain.
This indicates inflammation of conjunctiva or scores.
The treatment of the condition is by use of antiinflammatory drugs and antibiotics.
You can consult your GP for prescription of drugs. If the condition foes not resolve then you can consult your eye doctor.

Thank you
