What Causes Redness On The Ankles And Feet?

WWhat could I be suffering from? My feet & ankles turn bright red are swollen& painful.i have what appear to be clots in my legs butdoppler states no blood clots. My r hand also swells &that s a crust kike ridge I it. I was on prednisone a few weeks ago & everything got better but in a few weeks it came back even worse. Help me! A

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history of redness on ankle, my treatment advice is -

1. Avoid standing for long periods of time and keep pillows below legs while sleeping.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take a vitamin c supplement once daily for 3 months. If problem persists then consult a dermatologist.
