What Causes Reduced Appetite And Excessive Belching After Accidentally Swallowing A Coin?

Hi there, almost four weeks ago my son swallowed a coin. X rays have shown it is stuck at very top of stomach. We are awaiting procedure to have it removed but in last few days my son has reduced appetite, increased burping. Should I be worried or just wait for procedure?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the foreign body clearance depends upon the level of impaction, counter of the coin as well as intestine peristalsis. Rather than waiting for the procedure, as there is nausea and reduced appetite, I would recommend to take a recent x-ray of the abdomen and standing for the check up of level of coin in the alimentary system.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
