What Causes Reduced Hearing In Ear Along With Vertigo?

Yes, I went on a cruise to Alaska in July and when I returned to NC I found that I was totally deaf in my right ear and had vertigo. I went through a ssries of physical theray, but nothing has helped at this point. Is this something I will have to live with?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have hearing in ear along with vertigo . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons , but the most common is anxiety and the other Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) are ear infection , hypoglycemia , anemia , meniere's disease , migraine and alteration in he blood circulation . Hearing loss can also be associated with age factor . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order test like rotatory chair test , head movement test , posturography , hearing test and CT scan . Doctor may prescribe antiemetic drug , sedatives , antibiotics ( gentamicin ) at least for a week and recommend balance therapy ( vestibular therapy ) , hearing aid or physiotherapy . For now do not bend forward and drink green tea thrice a day with ginger .
