What Causes Reflux And Discoloration?

My son had a bone marrow transplant (ten years ago) due to having Fanconi Anemia. He had chemo and whole body irradiation. He had an endoscopy due to having reflux and we were told that it was abnormal looking and had discoloration. Have you seen these results and what could be the reason?

Hello,

Your son might be suffering from irradiation induced gastritis and esophagitis which is causing this abnormal looking mucosa with discoloration. Consult your doctor for treatment as this needs immediate attention.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sameen Bin Naeem, General & Family Physician
