What Causes Regular Throat Infections For A Chain Smoker?

hi doctor ,my age ;22,male ..i often suffer from throat infection , more importantly i am still suffering from it .. i am a chain smooker and often drink twice in a week , no fever , a little itchy and sore throat , once i got such serious infection that doctor reffer me to operate but i got little affraid and just take the oral treatment and got better in a week .. may i have a suitable answer plz
