What Causes Reoccurring Itchy Red Lumps On The Knee?

Hi there, I ve been having these reoccurring itchy red lumps (one on each knee) on and off for over a year now in winter and summer. They start small, red and hard then develop into a largish raised lump (50p coin size) on the knee cap with redness and very itchy. I was given antihistamine cream last time I went to the doctors as they thought it could be an allergy but the cream doesn t do anything. Please could someone help as it is irritating and reoccurring. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your history, it may be due to dermatitis.

For that you can apply hydrocortisone ointment locally.

Take tablet loratidine for itching.

Alternatively you can apply aloe Vera gel. Maintain proper hygiene.

In case of fever you may require detailed evaluation including blood investigation.

Avoid harsh cosmetic products.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
