This started about a year ago. My eye(s) would get super itchy. Unconsciously in my sleep or if I was not paying attention I would itch/scratch the eye or eyes. Sometimes I go to bed fine & wake up with one eye completely swollen shut. And that is the weirdest part. It's usually only one eye & wouldn't take be uncharacteristic of eye allergies? The swelling generally only lasts one day & decreases with ice packs. My vision never blurs nor is the eye red. This just seems to be an eyelid problem. Still it is very debilitating since the swelling is usually very severe. And I am worried that I am causing permanent damage to my eyelid skin. Please help me!
Hello It seems from the history that you are having recurrent swelling of eye lid not associated with redness or any other visual complaints.
This indicates that it is probably blepharitis. Blepharitis is inflammation of the skin of eyelids and is caused by a variety of causes like infection, allergy... The treatment is by lid hygiene and use of antibiotics or anti allergy drugs depending on the cause. Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for examination and treatment accordingly.
Thank you
