Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m 41 years old. I had my tubes tied 18 years ago after my third child. My period ended a week ago, and started it again today for some reason. I have pain on my left side of abdoman, and my breasts hurt sometimes. I also get dizzy spells when I stand up, and my voice is slurring at times. I don t drink, but do smoke. I don t have money or a credit card, so never mind..I ll have to figure this out
Menstruation is a natural process in which the uterus prepares its wall for implantation, in order to receive the baby every month. When there is no implantation, the wall sheds and gets back to normal level. This shedding of the wall of uterus (inner lining) is seen as menstruation. It is regulated primarily by 2 hormones, levels of which keep varying all through out this process.
Irregular menses are quite common and happen due to the hormone imbalances. This condition can be managed by taking hormone pills as per the advice of a gynecologist. Dizzy spells may be related to your hemoglobin levels. I would advise you to get it checked at the earliest. Its not an expensive investigation. It also could be normal to have it as seen in a condition called postural hypotension. Slurring of voice would need a thorough clinical examination and a series of investigations.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
