What Causes Restless Sleep?

I have started a new teaching job and am having sleeping problems. I can get to sleep, but wake up seeral times during the night. I am now experiencing anxiety as well. I tried teas, over the counter meds, and relaxation techniques. I am seeing a psychiatrist who prescribed me Clonopin (I think), my primary doctor who prescribed me Ambien, and go every other week to a therapist. Neither drugs helped me sleep more than 4 hours at night. I can easily sleep in the daytime, but I have a job I have missed two days. Can you help me?

Neurologist 's  Response
Hello!
I read your question and understand your concern.
Sleeping problems are very common during anxiety situations. Clonopin and Ambien are two powerful drug for sleeping problems and I think it may be another cause underlying your insomnia , other than stress. In my opinion it may be cause by a sleep apnea , or low oxygen saturation, causing a hormone imbalance leading to restless sleep.
I would recommend a polysomnography for sleep apnea and an oxygen pressure monitoring during the day.
If abnormal results in the above tests you should consult with the neurologist and treat the primary cause.
Melatonine is a very helpful drug that I would recommend to use for some months , for a good physiological sleep.
Hope to have been of help!
Best wishes!
