What Causes Restlessness During Sleep In An Elderly Person?
I am a healthy active 51 year old woman who sleeps very restlessly! Sometimes I am restless over 35 times in a night and generally awake during the night for over an hour. I fall asleep easily but do not sleep soundly. I am a teacher with two teens at home so every moment I m asleep needs to count! What can I do?

Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like sleep apnea , restless legs syndrome or narcolepsy. I would suggest you consult general practitioner for proper examination . Doctor may order sleep study , blood test along with checking vitals .Doctor may recommend CPAP machine after sleep study . Doctor may also refer you to psychiatrist for psychological problem . For now di light exercises daily , do mind relaxing exercises like meditation and yoga .
